Cognitive Behavioral Therapy can be applied to a variety of mental health challenges while still maintaining the individualistic approach. Below you will find a list of common challenges that I have worked with but this is not a fully exhaustive list. If you are curious whether or not work with me or CBT is a good fit for you, just reach out and we can discuss!

Depression can make it feel like you’re moving through life with a cloud over you. It may be there all the time or come and go at different times. We will work together to help you better understand how your depression presents - the thoughts it leads to and the helpful vs. maladaptive behaviors you may be engaging in. I will help you learn and practice tools to identify the warning signs to a depressive episode and begin to change your thoughts, feelings, and behaviors to help you begin to feel better. We will also explore what is within vs. outside of your control to help you focus your energy in a more helpful direction. Depression can really impact our lives and be quite draining. I am here to help you best manage your symptoms and work towards the best version of yourself possible.

Anxiety can make normal, every day activities feel like life or death situations, whether that be social interactions, taking a test, or just constant worry about what is next. We will work together to help you better understand and separate your thoughts and behaviors that are rooted in fear and anxiety, gently exploring and challenging them to better understand the reality of the feared situations. We can cover tools and coping skills that will help you take steps towards improved calm and emotion and reason speaking with each other better. Some of this work may be uncomfortable as we help you run experiments that test the realities of the fears your brain has but it will all be with the goal of your anxiety being there only when it is needed and helpful, instead of being a constant presence that feels like it’s controlling your life and wellbeing.

Beginning couple’s therapy is a great step towards improving the health of your relationship, building connection and understanding, and improving joining and alignment. At the very least, I am here to help you and your partner align on your goals and explore what is or is not possible for your future. In our work together, I will utilize my training in ERP and ACT to help you build a shared language that helps you improve your understanding of one another and each of your values as well as learn and practice healthy communication skills. The goal is not to remove any tension or fighting but to help you both prioritize the relationship and handle challenges in a healthy way. Our sessions will be informed by the Gottman method and will involve direct, honest, and collaborative exploration of your needs.

If you are struggling with your executive functioning, time and task management, focus, or attention, we can utilize our sessions to help you better understand how your brain works and what it needs. The key to working with executive functioning challenges is meeting your brain where it is at - you may not be able to approach tasks in the same way that someone else does but there are definitely ways that you can organize your life that can help you feel more in control. I will help you learn and practice tools that align with your executive functioning needs while incorporating self compassion and acceptance - challenging any judgement you may be placing on yourself.

If you’ve been living with OCD, our work together will focus on helping you better understand how your OCD presents and what obsessions and compulsions you may be experiencing. With my training and experience in exposure and response prevention, we will work on helping you identify and challenge maladaptive patterns that may have formed over time. While it may be uncomfortable to engage in exposures and behavioral experiments, the goal will be for you to rewire your brain and have more freedom in your actions while decreasing the control that OCD has over your life.

We have little control over the challenges life throws at us. Our work together will focus on helping you navigate any chosen or surprise life transitions that you may be going through. I will help you identify your needs and goals during this transition and help you align your behaviors to those goals. We will collaboratively identify and address any barriers you may be facing while integrating any insights you may gain along the way.

We are all social beings. So, our close relationships and how we think other’s perceive us can have huge impact on our lives. I utilize my training and expertise in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy to help you build your curiosity and understanding of other people and reaffirm your own needs and values. We may cover healthy communication skills, boundary setting, and self advocacy. Coping with the challenges our relationships may lead to can be challenging when the behavior of others is out of our control. I am here to help you explore what is within your control and focus your energy on what feels the most helpful and healthy for you.
